CEA and NEA Hold Safety Forum
November 15, 2001
Key Elements and Provisions of the New OSHA Subpart R - Steel Erection Standard was the topic at a recent seminar sponsored by the Construction Employers’ Association with the Association of Union Constructors’ National Outreach Program.
More than 120 principals, project managers, safety directors and key jobsite personnel from CEA member firms as well as members of various steel erecting firms attended the seminar, held at the Concord Hilton.
Keynote speaker Steven Rank, NEA director of safety and health, provided clarification of Subpart R component requirements along with jobsite illustrations addressing hazards and safe practices.
The new Federal OSHA Steel Erection Standard will take effect on January 18, 2002. Cal/OSHA has six months from the effective date of the Fed-OSHA Standard to either adopt the federal standard or come up with one of its own.
